Inside Release with a Handoff

David Aiken, The Checkerboard Guy, demonstrates the Inside Release with a Handoff with shaker cups.

------

Begin with the striped cup nestled in the black cup. Your right hands holds the black cup while your left hand holds the white cup.

Release the black cup with a counterclockwise, inside arc.

The striped cup slides out of the black cup and heads over to the left. (see photo)

While the striped cup and the black cup are in the air, pass the white cup from your left hand to your right hand.

Reach up with your empty left hand to catch the striped cup.

Use your right hand catch the black cup in the white cup.

The next release will be with your right hand turning clockwise in an outside direction to release the white cup. Remember that the black cup is currently inside of the white cup.

While the black cup and the white cup are tumbling in the air pass the striped cup from your left hand to your right hand.

Claw-catch the black cup in your left hand. Catch the white cup in the striped cup that is in your right hand.

Continue the pattern and you will see that the cups change after each sequence. Your left hand catches cups in the order: striped, black, white. Your right hand accepts cups from the left hand in this same order, one step out of synch: white, striped, black.

The black cup always nestles into the white cup. The white cup always nestles into the striped cup. The striped cup nestles into the black cup.
