Overarm Knot Throwing

I think this is how James Dean throws a knot in the first section of the video clip seen on this page.

 

The idea is to swing the tail over your upper arm so the tail drops through the triangle created by your upper arm, your forearm, and a section of the rope. Once the tail drops through this triangle you just lower your hand to let the loop slide off of your arm, forming the knot.

 

It's pretty hard to tell exactly what he is doing on that video. If someone knows he is using a different technique, please let me know.
